Scout and outdoor recreation center Hunneberg

The purpose of the project is to develop the scout farm at Hunneberh into a scout and outdoor recreation farm.

About the project

”"The background was that we (Hunneberg's YMCA scout club) with 125 members founded in 1938 received requests from the public, our members and parents to develop our fine scout farm and make it even more adapted to outdoor life and activities. Through this, we were able to solve the problem of finding good overnight places for several patrols at the same time. We wanted to build three wind shelters together and have more benches to meet at as well as an activity track to play and collaborate on that is adapted to young people and nature. We wanted scouts, leaders and parents to be involved in the construction and contribute to the community and care of our future and farm. We also wanted to improve access to canoes and their use and expand parking options at the farm, for both the public and members. In the long term, we hope that these investments generate income, through the rental of canoes and outdoor activity packages." Annalena Levin, project manager and scout leader

Countless hours of volunteer time have been invested in the project by the association's members, both large and small. The project is also well-established with other nearby actors and associations to create the greatest possible benefit. They have collaborated based on existing hiking trails and activities so as not to compete but rather to complement.

”"We applied for funds from Leader and received grants for both windbreaks and canoes, which were a great need in our corps. The feeling was incredibly gratifying, we couldn't believe it was true."”
