RF SISU Young Leadership Program

RF-SISU Västra Götaland has been granted project support to implement the 'Young Leaders Program Göta Älv & Säveån', an initiative that will strengthen young people's influence and involvement in sports clubs. Through education, supervision and practical leadership experience, a total of 150 young people aged 15–25 in the municipalities of Ale, Lilla Edet, Lerum and Alingsås will have the opportunity to develop as leaders and contribute to their sports clubs.

The background is that many young people want to get involved, but rarely get the chance to do it for real. In rural areas, the challenge is particularly great – fewer role models and fewer resources. Through the program, young people receive support, tools and guidance to be able to take responsibility, influence and contribute to community in their local environments.

At the same time, the associations are helped to create long-term plans for leadership supply, which strengthens the entire association life. The result is both more young people who feel confident in the future – and a stronger civil society along the Göta älv and Säveån rivers.

The initiative will help more young people gain the courage, skills and motivation to take on leadership roles, while also giving sports clubs better opportunities to grow and develop.

The project is in the queue at the Swedish Board of Agriculture.
