Easter holiday activities at Björsjöås
The project offered nature-based activities to children and young people on Easter break for four days at Björsjöås Wilderness.
Easter holiday activities at Björsjöås
The project was carried out in close collaboration with Bergumskolan's after-school activities and offered free nature-based activities over four days at Björsjöås Vildmark. The activities were aimed at school-age children, mainly 7–16 years old, and included elements such as "ghost walking" - where the children were guided through the world of folk beliefs using a mobile phone and imagination - and "the storm kitchen trick", where they cooked together outdoors without electricity.
The initiative combined teacher-led exercises with the possibility of spontaneous visits, which increased accessibility for both organized groups and the general public. Marketing took place via social media and the project website. Despite a lower turnout than expected (50 participants compared to the planned 200), the project was a success in its implementation.
Target group:
Children and young people with families living in Bergum and the surrounding area
Results:
The project reached its target group well and led to a new long-term collaboration between school, association and tourism actors. It was established as a new model for outdoor-based holiday activities. An extra positive effect was that one business chose to include overnight accommodation on site with access to tipi tent – something that was greatly appreciated.
”"We think it went as planned. We got the best response from schools that took the opportunity to visit us..."”
Post-project activities:
Bergum Gunnilse Utveckling plans to continue the collaboration with Bergumskolan's after-school activities and also to develop new collaborations with other schools. The project has established a basis for recurring holiday activities in the area and could become a permanent part of the association's activities during school holidays.
